There is nothing like your senior year with homecoming, the prom, the graduation, and the senior trip.
It IS your time to shine in the spotlight. Just like your prom dress, shoes and hair, your makeup must be flawless.
Your Prom Makeup Tips
If you are doing your own makeup, I encourage you to read these tips. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me, I would love to answer them.
As a professional makeup artist, I always start with the face, then the eyes, and lips are last.
Face
Your Foundation
A good foundation is the key to making your skin look radiant. You should always clean your face before you put on a tinted moisturizer that matches your skin tone. Blend the moisturizer into your neck area to ensure a wholesome, natural look.
Natural Look
If you are going for a natural look, the best way to achieve this is to use makeup brushes that are designed for applying the product you are using. Using these brushes will help you get that natural look more naturally than using your fingers or tiny applicators alone.
Freckles
If you have freckles, I encourage you to play up your eyes using plum, browns, or navy colors with shimmer all over the lids. Smudge a deep brown or navy eyeliner with your fingertip or an eyeliner brush for a more natural look. Set the eyelashes with an eyelash curler and dark brown mascara.
Use a bronzer instead of a blush for color. You can finish your look with a natural color lip liner, smudging with your fingers or lip brush and using a sheer, wet gloss on top.
Set Your Makeup
Once you are done applying makeup on your face, you need to “set” your makeup so that your makeup is not ruined before you get your pictures taken or while dancing on the floor at your prom. To do this, dust lightly with a loose, translucent (sheer) powder over your entire face and neck area.
Eyes
If you want to create a dramatic look with your eyes, consider using a color that closely matches your skin tone. Accentuate it with a sheer black eye shadow in the crease and bottom of the lid. Be sure to blend from the outside corner to the inside corner of your eyes. Top it off by using a bronze or silver shimmer or if you rather not use shimmer, you can use a blend of three colors from your eyelash line to your eyebrow.
Lips
You should always exfoliate your lips before applying any lipstick. This will help get rid of dry, chapped skin and revitalize your lips. When choosing your lipstick color, keep in mind that if you are going to play up your eyes, use a lipstick color that is lighter than your eye colors. Use a lip liner to soften the look and a lip gloss to finish your look.
